T-Shirt Fabric Guide: Ring-Spun Cotton, Tri-Blend and Recycled Polyester

T-Shirt Fabric Guide: Ring-Spun Cotton, Tri-Blend and Recycled Polyester

Two shirts can look identical online and feel completely different on. The fabric makes the difference. This quick guide explains the tee fabrics we use so you can choose the right one.

Combed and ring-spun cotton

Ring-spinning twists cotton fibers tightly for a smoother, softer feel, and combing removes short fibers. Many of our everyday tees use it, such as the Checkout My Aunt Tee and the 99 Donuts Tee. They are lightweight, pre-shrunk and soft.

Heavyweight, garment-dyed cotton

If you want a thicker, structured tee, look for heavyweight, garment-dyed shirts like the Fuckasaurus Around Men’s Tee. At 6.1 oz/yd², it has more heft than a standard tee while staying soft and breathable.

Tri-blend

Tri-blend fabric mixes polyester, cotton and rayon for a vintage, fitted look and extra durability. Our Short Sleeve Basic Logo Tee uses a tri-blend.

Stretch polyester jersey

The I’ll Visit Uranus Men’s Tee is 95% polyester and 5% elastane with four-way stretch, so it moves with you and holds its color after washing.

Recycled blends

Our eco tees, like the Check out my six-pack tee, combine recycled polyester with recycled cotton for a lightweight, eco-friendly option.
